Last week I drew Ixchel, Goddess of healing and bodies of water. I struggled with identifying with the card this past week. I keep injuring myself and it’s really beginning to piss me off. No sooner did I get through PT to treat an unfortunate yoga mishap, this week I am addressing some weird uber tendon or ligament damage in my left hand that has nerves involved. I think I did it during tactical training in NC when for hours on the range I cleared my Glock dozens and dozens of times daily. That motion irritated things, and pushing the vacuum cleaner around when I got home was the nail in the coffin. I am trying icing daily and putting off going to the doc for a bit longer. Damn! Part of healing involves patience and that’s a real challenge for me. When I broke my foot last year I had to either radically accept my cripple, invalid status for 3 months or drive myself absolutely nuts. I sucked it up because I had to. That is usually the case in life!
As for bodies of water, I miss them. I always miss the ocean living in land locked Vermont, but I am addressing that on my next trip. In August when I head to South Africa I decided to step over to Mozambique and enjoy their world class diving. I just sent my passport off to NYC yesterday (always anxiety-provoking) along with my Mozambique Visa application so I don’t get hassled with that when I cross over the border in my rental car. There will be enough opportunity for guards, other officials, and civilians attempting to fleece me for extra cash, I don’t need acquisition of a visa to be added to the list. Border crossing into Mozambique is slowly improving but it can still be a chaotic and nerve wracking experience. But well worth it. I will be close to Ixchel and some of her most glorious creatures soon, including humpbacks and whale sharks. So utterly psyched.
This week I pulled Aphrodite. She’s your inner Goddess. Enjoy!
“Awaken the goddess within you through dance, self-care, and appreciating your divinity.”
Message from Aphrodite: “Allow your inner feminine wisdom and dynamic beauty to rise to the surface. Cherish its power and meaning. Use your intuitive capabilities. Now is the time to be aware of, take care of, and celebrate your magnificence!”
Various Meanings of This Card: Balance your male and female energy * Take steps to heal your sexuality * Enjoy being feminine * Dance more often * Be receptive * In relationships, allow your softer side to come forward * Don’t hide your femininity
About Aphrodite (pronounced Af-roh-Dy-tee): Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of passion and love, who’s associated with the planet Venus. Aphrodite’s name mean “foam born”, as legend says that she sprang from her father Uranus’s castrated genitals which were cast into the ocean. Thus, Aphrodite represents unabashed female sexual energy. Aphrodite helps women feel comfortable with their bodies and sexuality. She helps both genders to experience more passion in their relationships, and to become more balanced as far as male-female energy is concerned.
