If you’re like me, you’ve found it a combination of both irritating and unsettling to be forced to travel without bringing along gear that can fit the bill for a plethora of situations that arise while on the road.
I recently purchased the slightly larger version (different company) of this small but extremely versatile and effective knife. Unlike the smaller model (above the spoon), this one includes a lever with a quick spring release for the blade which is nifty. It can be found on Amazon: 5.5 Inch Assisted Open “Mini Task Force” Tactical Folding Pocket Knife, $10.99.
The smaller one has an uncanny ability to pass undetected in settings where you wish it to be so. Thrown in with camera gear, adaptors, etc. it seems to, due to its small size and square shape, go unrecognized. I had security in Dubai Airport actually pick it up and examine it only to throw it back in with my electronic items. I know, crazy. Wouldn’t bet on that happening twice in a lifetime!
Both of them fit great on your belt, in your pocket, or in the palm of your hand at the ready when your spider sense says so – although your spider sense should have activated prior to and told you not to be there to begin with! That being said, sometimes you have to get from point A to point B.
Just because they’re little doesn’t mean they can’t be effective self defense tools. Either one is capable of extending the surprise factor that sudden and unexpected pain brings, thus providing the chance to get away. The smaller model is also available on Amazon: Boker Subcom F Folding Pocket Knife, $28.79 (because it’s Boker).
